“I think I made a wise choice coming study at the University of Hertfordshire; I have really enjoyed life in the UK and would recommend it!”
Career history
Liang Chen chose to come and study English for Academic Purposes at the University of Hertfordshire to enable him to reach the required level of English to progress to his Masters degree, MSc International Business, and since then his studies have gone from strength to strength.
“I completed my first degree in my home country, China, studying economics. My spoken English wasn’t very good so I knew I would have to study a preparatory programme in order to study my Masters in the UK. The University I studied at in China has good links with the University of Hertfordshire so I knew I wanted to apply.
“The Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCEAP) programme helped to develop my writing and presentation skills which have proved to be invaluable in studying my MSc.
“I have been at UH for one and a half years now and I have really enjoyed my time! The facilities are very good and the LRC’s are great. I use Studynet a lot as it enables me to communicate with my tutors extremely easily.
“I have had a couple of jobs while at UH. Before beginning my MSc I worked as a student guide during International Orientation Week, I enjoyed this a lot and the experience I got from it was great. I also worked as a cleaner at the de Havilland Campus, it was for a couple of hours each morning so didn’t get in the way of my studies and the money was really good! I really like the de Havilland campus; it’s so advanced in its facilities - a great place to study.
