Career History:
Oliver graduated from the ICMA Centre’s BSc International Securities, Investment and Banking in 2002 and the MSc in 2003. After graduating I contracted a role at BNP Paribas where I used visual basic programming to semi-automate regular reports. I got my current job through a recruitment consultant. As a Senior Financial Analyst at JPMorgan Chase I work with traders to model asset swap trades in the front office risk management system and provide whatever support is necessary for the business to run smoothly. I use a lot of the fixed income module and visual basic programming skills I learned at the Centre.

I chose to study these courses because I wanted to further my knowledge in finance, to ensure I stood out and to give me the edge in the markets. This centre provided an exciting and interactive environment which gave me the knowledge and skills used in the markets. The centre has a solid curriculum backed by unrivalled facilities, ties with industry through a history of success in training people in finance and the friendly accomplished staff. For people interested in every aspect of finance and who are numerically minded with ambitions of getting into finance I would strongly recommend the ICMA Centre.

As regards the best elements of the course, I enjoyed the derivatives pricing and trading course for its hands on approach and the fixed income module for the range of fascinating products. The support I received from everyone at the Centre was great and they were regularly available.

I enjoyed the free and friendly interaction between the staff and students and postgraduates. The atmosphere was very relaxed and in keeping with making new friends from around the world. The dedicated halls of residence allowed like minded people to stay close to relax and study together, these could be one of the biggest contributors to the Centre’s success.

I had one of the best years of my life studying at the ICMA Centre and made what I believe will be life long friends. I am sure the course secured my position in a top tier investment bank which will expand my future possibilities. The course allowed me the opportunity to network with people from around the world with different backgrounds and different career ambitions and the industry is largely based on networking, the course has given me the knowledge and understanding necessary to show my dedication to the industry to those I may meet.
