Summary
Directly providing life-saving blood, stem cell and organ donations for patients with serious illnesses, transfusion and transplant specialists are in high demand, but short staffed. Integral to the pathology service, they also support specialist scientific reference services. Unique to UWE and NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), the MSc Applied Transfusion and Transplantation Science aims to tackle this shortage.
Study an applied, practice-based course that offers flexibility to fit around your work. You will learn about real-world health challenges, such as donor compatibility issues for transplantation, and current approaches and future strategies for transfusion therapy. You will embrace a blended programme studying at both UWE and NHSBT in Bristol, where you will gain hands-on experience at the largest blood centre in Europe. You will learn from practising transfusion and transplantation specialists, as well as world-leading researchers.
This is an attractive course that would be applicable to a wide range of graduates across health care and life sciences, inclusive of those seeking to consolidate their career in transfusion or transplantation. If you are currently based in-post in the UK, or overseas, this course will help support your career in a scientific, research or management role.
