University of Southampton launches MSc in Unmanned Vehicle Systems Design
The University of Southampton is happy to announce the launch of a new MSc in Unmanned Vehicle Systems Design.
This is the first full-time postgraduate taught degree in this subject area, and it is designed for innovative engineers who want to work with UAV systems.
The MSc in Unmanned Vehicle Systems Design will be delivered by experienced academics within Engineering Sciences at the University of Southampton. Building on its groundbreaking EPSRC-funded research at the university, plus the success of undergraduate projects on unmanned vehicles, Engineering Sciences is now able to provide this specialist postgraduate course.
The unmanned systems industry is currently undergoing explosive growth. The market for civil applications for UAV technology is predicted to grow more rapidly than military applications when, as expected, new airspace regulations and certification rules are defined and accepted.
The worldwide market for UAVs is already worth US$6.6 billion a year; this is set to rise to $55 billion by 2020. This exceptional growth has resulted in a demand by leading aerospace and defence companies for qualified professionals to work in this specialist area, the MSc in Unmanned Vehicles Systems Design has been developed with this in mind.
The course has been created in close collaboration with BAE Systems, QinetiQ and Cobham, ensuring the best possible commercial links to aid employability prospects and industry relevant learning.
