University of Brighton students to study tourism in The Gambia
Postgraduate students studying the MSc in Tourism and International Development MSc or the MA in Tourism and Social Anthropology at the University of Brighton will have the opportunity to spend a week in the Gambia and experience what tourism can actually do in a developing country.
This field trip will take place from 5th–12th December 2011 and will involve both a group of students from the University of Brighton and Gambian participants. The students will be accompanied by Dr Marina Novelli who is the principal lecturer in tourism development and the University of Brighton, as well as Professor Peter Burns the Professor of Tourism and International Development.
The week-long experience will enable peer-to-peer, cross-cultural exchanges between students studying in the UK and Gambian participants.
To be eligible for this field trip you will need to have an unconditional offer on either Tourism and International Development MSc or Tourism and Social Anthropology MA from the University of Brighton.
Students will need to set aside approximately £700 for the trip as well as a budget to cover for required injections and a visa if required as well as spending money. The cost will include all transport as per the programme (including flights), guesthouse accommodation at the Sandele Eco-Retreat and Learning Centre, insurance, all activities and entrance fees.
If you are interested you will need to pay a deposit of £200 to secure your place as soon as possible as places are limited.
