Recognised for our research
Over half of our research was recognised as world-leading or internationally excellent in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). Our research has a direct societal, economic and cultural impact. We have 10 research institutes, and produce award-winning research that not only changes the world for the better, but also informs our teaching and enhances your learning experience. We were recognised in the REF 2014 in major areas of research such as advancing medical knowledge of serious and chronic disease, substance misuse, language assessment, and robotics technology that supports independent living. The REF recognises the University’s research success in both quality and quantity.
