The University of East Anglia (UEA) has started recruiting for those who wish to start the MA Child and Family Research and the MSc Child and Family Psychology degree programmes in September 2011.

These two programmes combine research methods training with the study of children and families, their development, roles and social contexts, in order to prepare students to undertake a research project on a child and family topic of their choice.

UEA’s School of Social Work and Psychology offers excellence in teaching and has a strong student support system. The academic expertise is renowned through the Centre for Research on the Child and Family.

Penny Sorenson, a former student on the MA in Child and Family Research, says, “I liked the variety the course offered – from research methods to social policy via family studies. It was incredibly interesting mixing with students from other cultures and becoming aware of their perspectives on children and families.”

Ellen Lynch, a former student on the MSc in Child and Family Psychology, says, “While the individual research project allows you to pursue in-depth study of a particular area of interest the taught course modules enhance understanding of a diverse range of aspects of childhood and family life and allow the collaborative, interdisciplinary nature of the department to shine through.”
