UEA has announced its honorary graduates

The University of East Anglia has announced its honorary graduates - including a best-selling author, a museum director and a playwright!

Among those being awarded honorary degrees from UEA this year are highly acclaimed Irish writer Sebastian Barry; Olivier award-winning playwright and director Sir David Hare; Jonathan Reekie, the chief executive of the Aldeburgh Festival; and Professor Chris Rapley CBE, the director of the Science Museum.

Other people being recognised in this year's ceremonies are Suffolk-born translator Anthea Bell, politician Baroness Cumberlege, and computer scientist Professor Chris Bishop.

UEA Registrar and Secretary Brian Summers says, ' We present honorary degrees to those who have made a remarkable contribution to the arts, science, learning, development and civil society. This July we will bring together 13 highly acclaimed and distinguished individuals who richly deserve this recognition.'

The honorary degrees will be awarded at this year’s graduation ceremonies which take place from 13th-16th July at the University of East Anglia.
