UEA gets rated outstanding by Ofsted
The teacher training courses run by the University of East Anglia (UEA) have been graded as outstanding by Ofsted. UEA's one-year postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) programmes for both primary and secondary teaching received the highest possible rating in every area.
The report stated that over half the trainees are judged to be outstanding by the end of the courses. The PGCE programmes are offered by UEA's School of Education and Lifelong Learning.
Head of the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, Professor Nigel Norris said, 'This is an excellent outcome, which keeps UEA in the leading group of teacher education providers in the UK and is a well-deserved result for one of the best teacher education teams in the country.'
The report highlighted the strong leadership, guidance and support from the university across all partner schools. It also praised the high levels of personal and academic support for all trainees.
