The IET wants entries for its 2011 Ambition Awards

This month the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) has today issued a call for entries for its 2011 Ambition and Young Professionals’ Achievement Awards.

These awards include a range of undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships plus competitions for students within the IT and engineering sectors.

This year’s IET Ambition Awards are sponsored by GCHQ, RS Components and Transport for London. Current and prospective students studying on engineering or IT programmes only have until 20th April 2011 to apply for a postgraduate scholarship of up to £10,000 or until 30th June 2011 to apply for an undergraduate scholarship of up to £3,000 per annum.

The IET is also looking for nominations for the 2011 Young Professionals’ Achievement Awards which celebrate the achievements of outstanding young professionals. These may be individuals who have shown exceptional leadership in developing a project, excelled in the workplace or demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the profession.  Nominations should be submitted by the 30th May 2011.

Linda Deleay, Awards and Prizes Manager says, “Engineering students and young professionals are key to the future of industry and at the IET, we are focused on encouraging the growth and development of outstanding young engineers. The IET Ambition and Young Professional Achievement Awards aim to help finance the studies of promising engineering students, as well as recognising and rewarding promising young professionals, who are vital to the future of engineering.”

The IET provides around £200,000 every year in awards and scholarships, to promote excellence in the sector, endorse women entering the profession and encourage the next generation of engineers and technologists.
