Sunderland professor is exhibiting at the Royal Academy of Arts
A professor from the University of Sunderland is exhibiting his work at the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts in London.
Professor Eric Bainbridge's sculpture - called The Mind of the Artist at the Beginning of Time - is set to appear alongside some of the greatest artists of the 20th Century in an exhibition called Modern British Sculpture.
The exhibition started on Saturday 22nd January, and features the work of artists including Damien Hirst and Henry Moore, alongside Professor Eric Bainbridge.
Eric Bainbridge has been a professor of fine art at the University of Sunderland for the last 10 years. He says of his sculpture, "The work represents my influences in 20th Century art, and also represents that period of my work in the 1990s quite well. It's a work I still very much like, and wonderful to have it shown at such a high profile national exhibition. Sculpture is very important for England. We have a rich history of sculpture in this country, which has influenced artists throughout the world."
Modern British Sculpture is at the Royal Academy of Arts until the 7th April 2011, click here for further details.
