St Mary’s University College announces innovative Charity Sector Training Programme

Aimed at the charity sector, this groundbreaking programme hopes to build important capacities needed in charity organizations, particularly in the area of volunteer management.

The government funded training programme, titled Management of Volunteers ILM Institute of Leadership and Management Qualification, starts in February 2009. The practical programme is structured to be completed over 3 months and be compatible with the busy lives of managers. Those that successfully complete the course will receive a nationally recognised qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Carole Young, Director of Business Development at St Mary’s University College, said, "In tough times is important that managers build their own skills. Leading and motivating is now recognised as a useful tool for bringing out the best in staff, developing potential and achieving success through team building. The development of productive working relationships with volunteers and their managers can have real results.”
