Postgraduate opportunities for physical sciences students at the Chemical Biology Centre, Imperial College London

LogoFully funded postgraduate studentships are available at the Chemical Biology Centre (CBC) starting in October 2009. The CBC is a consortium of life scientists and physical scientists from three of London’s most prestigious Research Centres – Imperial College London, The Institute of Cancer Research and the London Research Institute of Cancer Research UK. The Centre’s interests lie in understanding protein–protein and protein–lipid interactions and in the education and training of a new generation of physical scientists in multidisciplinary research in this area.

The following postgraduate opportunities are offered at the CBC:

4 Year PhD Studentships at Chemical Biology Doctoral Training Centre: Applications are NOW invited for the fully funded 4 Year PhD studentships commencing in October 2009. Please visit the CBC website for further information on the PhD projects on offer along with details on how to apply. Early application is highly encouraged as projects will be filled on a first come first served basis, as suitable applicants arise.

MRes in Biomedical Physical Chemistry (1 Year): Advances in understanding biomolecular processes have often depended on the collaborative efforts of biochemists, chemists and physicists. This course, run jointly with the Faculty of Natural Sciences, enables students to bridge the gap that can exist between these disciplines because of differences in ‘language’, perspective and methodology.

MRes in Bioimaging Sciences (1 Year): 5 Fully-funded Medical Research Council (MRC) studentships NOW available (course commences in Oct 2009): MRes in Bioimaging Sciences is a one year taught and research-based postgraduate course covering all aspects of bioimaging (probe development chemistry, PET, MRI, optical imaging, ultrasound, pharmacology and image computation) including their techniques and application within medicine and the pharmaceutical industry, along with the chemistry behind imaging agents, drugs and biomarkers.
