Nottingham launches Postgraduate Research Open Day
Potential students who are unable to visit the campus easily can find out all they need to know from the Postgraduate Research Virtual Open Day. It features videos, podcasts, campus tours and guides, and is packed with information about the facilities, campus life and the specialist support and guidance that is available to postgraduate researchers at The University of Nottingham. Nathalie Thomas, UK Recruitment and Events Manager, says: “Our postgraduates come from all over the world which makes it very difficult for them to visit us before applying, or once they have applied, for a place. We wanted to make the University real to them by creating a virtual environment which they can visit whenever they chose. The application cycle for postgraduates is less structured than for undergraduates and the process of applying for university places, particularly for international students, can be daunting. This new website should make the whole process much easier and students will be better informed before making a final decision.” The site also includes information about visas and immigration for international students as well as details about accommodation and funding. Professor Claire O’Malley, Dean of the Graduate School, says: “Postgraduate research is vital to the success of world leading universities like The University of Nottingham. The best quality PhD research comes from finding the right match between the student and the supervisor. This innovative website will make that process much easier, especially for international students.” Click here for the Postgraduate Research Virtual Open Day.
