London Metropolitan University is one of the UK's largest universities with 30,000 students and over 3,000 staff. Reports from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education have awarded London Met with consistently high marks for teaching in Business and Management, Architecture, Computing and Law.
There are five libraries and modern learning centres, with over three quarters of a million items available, including books, journals, magazines, CDs and DVDs and state-of-the-art IT studios. The University is committed to developing new facilities, and recent projects have included the Graduate Centre, a suite of facilities dedicated to postgraduate students and a £30million spectacular Science Centre, featuring a 'superlab' with 280 individual workstations and unique facilities for studying sports therapy, nutritional physiology and food technology, as well as core sciences. The Centre also houses a sports hall including facilities for basketball, 5-a-side football, hockey and badminton as well as a fitness suite.
The Graduate School at London Met has been developed to focus on the needs of postgraduate and research students. It strengthens the development of postgraduate programmes, and provides help and assistance in areas such as fees, funding, entry requirements and applications procedures. In addition to supporting your academic studies our Student Services department provide information, support and guidance across a range of areas including visa regulations, finances and funding, career choices and employment opportunities.
Across our Academic Departments and Business School we offer an extensive range of subjects with many courses available on both a full and part-time basis and entry in September or January. Subject areas include: Art and Design, Architecture, Computing, Education, Health and Human Sciences, Humanities, Arts and Languages, Law, Politics and Social Justice, Polymers and Psychology.
The postgraduate and professional development programmes benefit from the many facilities the University has to offer including the Bloomberg Research and Trading Room. Here, students and finance delegates alike have the opportunity to apply their learning using market-leading technology. Our alumni can be found working in most of the major City institutions such as in the Bank of England, Merrill Lynch, Natwest, Schroder, Credit Lyonnais, Daiwa Europe, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, and also further afield.
Opportunities for research are offered in all departments of the University and may lead to the award of the degree of MPhil or PhD. The University currently has around 250 students registered for MPhil or PhD, on either full-time or part-time programmes of study.
