Leeds Trinity gets recognition for postgraduate journalism trainingLeeds Trinity University College has achieved recognition from industry experts for the quality of its postgraduate journalism programmes. The National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) which is the journalism industry’s accrediting body, has accredited Leeds Trinity's MA/ Postgraduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism. The MA/Postgraduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism was launched in January 2009 and is the latest of Leeds Trinity's courses to earn accreditation from the NCTJ, which in 1998 accredited the MA/Postgraduate Diploma in Print Journalism. The NCTJ’s board of directors has approved one year’s accreditation for the Magazine Journalism course and a further two years accreditation for the Print Journalism programme. The decision was made on the recommendation of an accreditation panel which visited Leeds Trinity. The panel carried out a full day’s inspection to meet the tutors and trainees – and to see how the one year Diploma courses operated. Susan Pape, course leader in Print and Magazine Journalism at Leeds Trinity, says, 'This is professional recognition that our courses teach all the right skills – and reach the standard demanded by the print industry. I’m delighted on behalf of the journalism team here at Leeds Trinity and all the trainees studying with us.' Find out more about Leeds Trinity University College.
