Leeds Metropolitan University welcomes new Vice-Chancellor

Leeds Metropolitan University is delighted to welcome new Vice-Chancellor Professor Susan Price. Professor Price joins Leeds Met from the University of East London (UEL), where she was Acting Vice-Chancellor. She had worked at UEL since 2002, when she was appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor with an academic remit. She became Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 2007, before taking over as Acting Vice-Chancellor in July 2008.

Speaking of her arrival at Leeds Met, Professor Price says, ‘I am absolutely delighted to be here in Leeds and very much looking forward to meeting colleagues over the coming weeks. I have already been struck by just how friendly a place our University is and have no doubt that together we will continue to build a strong, enterprising and innovative institution in this great city.’

Previously, Professor Price has held posts including: Director of Academic Affairs in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Bradford; Associate Dean at the University of the West of England; and ESRC fellow at the University of Manchester Business School.

Professor Price holds a first class degree in modern languages from the University of Salford, completed her PhD in linguistics at University College London and Salford, and gained an MBA from the University of Bradford.

Speaking six European languages, Professor Price is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
