College Overview
Leeds College of Music is the UK’s progressive conservatoire, with over 1,000 full-time students studying across classical, jazz, music production and popular music pathways at BTEC, undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Postgraduate Studies and Research Centre (PSRC) is responsible for Leeds College of Music’s postgraduate provision, research activities and consultancy work. The Centre hosts a series of conferences, performance events, workshops and masterclasses to support the creative development of students.

Postgraduate Courses
The PSRC has exciting provision intended for Performers, Composers and Producers across a range of genres to develop specialist interests. Students can undertake specialisms in classical, electroacoustic, jazz or popular music. Composers may also further contextualise their work by, for example, undertaking their specialist study in Composing for the Moving Image, Music Production or Song Writing. Whatever your chosen discipline, you can tailor the courses to your specific needs. The Centre offers three Music awards - MA, MMus, and PGDip - where you can specialise as either a performer or composer.

Staff Research
Current areas of specialism include Electro-Acoustic Composition, Improvisation, Music Pedagogy, twentieth century Musicology, Analysis, Composition, Production and Community Music.  

Facilities
The College has a 350 seat auditorium and state of the art facilities including another smaller, 100 seat auditorium, 45+ practice and ensemble rooms, seven industry standard recording studios, three mixing rooms and 80+ iMac workstations. The College is looking forward to becoming an All-Steinway School in September 2011 – the only English conservatoire to hold this coveted status, and one of only two in the UK. We are also investing in an SSL G-series based production studio for the beginning of the 2011/2012 academic year, which again will be unique in the sector.

2012 will see the College become an Apple Accredited Training Centre for Education.

Seminars
The College holds a series of Research Seminars throughout the academic year including hosting the annual Forum for Innovation in Music Production and Composition and Leeds International Jazz Conference, the leading performance and research-based event of its kind in Europe. Postgraduate students have opportunities to attend seminars at the University of Bradford to facilitate a wider postgraduate community that may also lead to student collaboration.

Creative Practitioners
Leeds College of Music has a long history of working with Creative Practitioners/Industry Partners and has partnerships with repetiteurs, film directors, performers and composers who have long standing in their relevant industries. Each student is assigned an industry mentor so that they can undertake a series of one-to-one consultations or supervisions.
