King’s graduates in demand

LUniversity logoatest figures confirm King’s graduates’ success in the job market.

The Sunday Times University Guide 2008 named King’s College London as the third best university for graduate starting salaries quoting a figure of £23,875 second only to LSE and Imperial.

Furthermore a recent survey shows that six months after graduation 97 per cent of our graduates went into employment and/or further study.

The figures have been supplied by HESA (the Higher Education Statistics Agency) and are taken from the Destinations of Leavers of Higher Education Survey (DLHE) published last month.

The figure of 97 per cent is of those known and available for work. This compares favourably with the national figures which show 5.6 per cent graduates to still be seeking work on the survey date.

In a climate where there has been much discussion about the effects of mass higher education on the employment prospects of graduates, it is particularly pleasing to note that 82 per cent of King’s graduates were in managerial, professional or associate professional work at this six month point.

This success looks set to continue as King’s remains heavily targeted by employers looking to recruit the best students for their graduate recruitment schemes. King’s Careers Service runs a full programme of events (both Careers Adviser and Employer led) allowing current students to learn more about the opportunities available to them upon graduation as well as to develop and demonstrate the key skills employers seek.

Jenny Owen, Head of the Careers Service, comments: ‘Our flagship careers fairs held in the autumn term have been fully booked months in advance demonstrating that even in these uncertain economic times employers are still eager to source talented graduates.’
