Institute of Education celebrates new ESRC Doctoral Training Centre

The Institute of Education (IOE) has been awarded accreditation as a Doctoral Training Centre in partnership with Birkbeck, SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The IOE led this successful bid to the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Beginning in October 2011, the Doctoral Training Centre will have 26 studentships per year to disburse over the next five years.

Staff in all four institutions have already begun work on the process of allocating studentships to specific pathways. They will start advertising for this year's studentship applications very soon.

The Bloomsbury Doctoral Training Centre is one of only 21 such ESRC Centres across the UK. This places IOE and their partners at the forefront of social sciences doctoral training in the UK.
