The School of Textiles and Design at Heriot-Watt University has launched an innovative, interdisciplinary postgraduate programme designed to respond to the diverse needs of the technologically advanced and creatively dynamic fashion and textile industries.
The taught postgraduate programme aims to develop advanced knowledge and practice of fashion through the exploration of concepts and contemporary topics in design, fashion and textiles.
The following specialisations are possible:
- MA in Fashion and Textiles Design
- MSc in Fashion and Textiles Management
- MSc or MA in Fashion and Textiles Innovation and New Applications
The programme challenges traditional and contemporary fashion and textiles in inter-disciplinary collaborations between subject areas to foster innovation. It provides students with the knowledge, skills and competencies to meet the diverse demands of this global industry, to educate competent and confident professionals with an in-depth understanding of creative processes and their management.
Staff and associated industry expertise spans the full spectrum from design to manufacture, context to management, technology to creativity and practice to theory, with students concentrating on an area of study to acquire knowledge and expertise conducive to their individual project intentions.
