Innovative International Perspectives in Education Masters degree is launched by Liverpool Hope University

University logoLiverpool Hope University is launching an MA for individuals involved in education from around the world.

The new MA is an innovative programme and is aimed at teachers, education administrators and policy makers who wish to actively contribute to the development of education on an international scale.

The MA in International Perspectives in Education course aims to empower students to understand education systems at national, regional and local levels, drawing on best education practice and ideas from across the globe.

The teaching team draws on the international expertise of a number of educational academics representing countries including Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Ghana.

Programme leader of the MA, Wendy Bignold, feels that Hope’s new Masters course will have far reaching benefits. She said: “This programme will address the career development needs of education professionals in the UK and overseas who seek to develop innovative practice on international perspectives. By studying best practice in education from around the world, we can find exciting new approaches and initiatives that could benefit a wide number of people.”

Students on the course will explore a range of core issues affecting education around the world today including globalisation, community development, curriculum change, sustainability and the changing workforce.

Wendy continued: “At Hope University we encourage students to be part of the University’s research environment. MA students will be invited to attend research seminars led by other graduate students, academic tutors, professors and visiting professors in subjects related to international education. We hope the programme will produce some international educational researchers of the future.”

Beginning in September 2008 the Masters degree programme fits in with Hope’s mission of reaching out to the international community and is also in line with the Government’s agenda of internationalising curriculums. Students can complete the MA as either full-time or part-time students.
