IET appeals for Young Women Engineers! The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) has issued a last call for entries for its annual Young Woman Engineer Awards, as the deadline for nominations is Friday 30th July. The IET is looking for dynamic young women representing the very best in engineering and technology. The IET Young Woman Engineer Awards is made up of three coveted prizes that recognise the very best female engineers under the age of 30 working in the UK today. The intention is to highlight the achievements of young women in engineering and aims to encourage and inspire others to enter the profession. The overall winner will be awarded with the title Young Woman Engineer of the Year as well as a cash prize and the opportunity to attend high profile events where they will have the chance to meet influential people from the industry. Two runners-up, one who has followed an apprentice route and the other who has followed a graduate route, will be awarded the Mary George and Women's Engineering Society Prizes respectively and will both have the opportunity to attend these events and to secure long-term career success. Agnes Segal, Manager of Membership Services at The IET says, 'As an industry dominated by men, the Young Woman Engineer Award aims to close this gender gap by highlighting the work of outstanding young females whilst inspiring others to pursue careers in this space. This is an amazing opportunity for exceptional and intelligent young women to get noticed for all the right reasons. With the deadline fast approaching we are urging people to rally behind their female colleagues and nominate them for these awards.' Find out more about the IET Young Woman Engineer Awards.
