De Montfort University's (DMU) Art and Design postgraduate and research courses specialise in innovation and creativity. Our aim is to educate you to be highly employable and to look at how art and design works together with other subjects.
Uniquely creative
Our postgraduates produce work of exceptional quality. This even includes a photograph that was used as a Royal Christmas card! Our research into alternative materials has led to a student’s ‘nettle dress’ being featured on BBC TV and we have unique courses, such as our MA in Fashion Bodywear, at the leading edge of the lingerie fashion industry.
Our graduates make an impact in the Creative Industries. They have gone on to work for top companies such as Agent Provacateur, H&M, Dyson, Habitat and Next. They have also designed famous buildings including the London ‘Gherkin’ and Birmingham’s Bull Ring. Read more about our latest news, student awards and successes…
World class research
De Montfort University’s research was rated highly in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). Almost half of all DMU’s research activity was rated in the top two categories, internationally excellent and world leading. Architecture and the Built Environment, one of our strongest areas reflecting our interests in sustainable development, has 65% rated in the top two categories. Study an MPhil or PhD research degree with the Faculty of Art and Design and you could be making a contribution towards our next research assessment.
