Cranfield student wins CIWM award
This annual award gives the winners the opportunity to present their paper at the annual conference, as well as a cheque for £1,500. Russell’s research looked at the potential for upgrading biogas to biomethane for producing renewable heat and fuel, in order to help meet the 15% renewable energy target of 2020 set by the European Union. He was given his award by CIWM President Barry Dennis at the CIWM Professional Awards Ceremony in October 2010 at the Lords cricket ground. A student at Cranfield University has won the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) Geotech award. Russell Harwood, who is on Cranfield’s Waste and Resource Management Masters programme, has been awarded CIWM Geotech award for his research paper on 'The Future Roles of Landfill Gas and Biogas'.
