Cranfield forges strategic design research partnership
Global companies are increasingly recognising the importance of low income consumers but often lack a comprehensive understanding of their basic needs and aspirations. Professor Simon Bolton, Director of C4D, explained, “Design research is an essential element in the development of new products for emerging markets. Through this collaborative partnership, we will be focusing on researching user issues in order to help companies and organisations to develop innovative low cost products and services that address their needs and aspirations effectively.” Professor Amaresh Chakrabarti of the Indian Institute of Science will be visiting Cranfield in April to run a design research methods workshop for Masters and PhD students in C4D.
