Cranfield University is to represent GB at the European handball championships

The Women’s Handball team at Cranfield University will be representing Great Britain at the 6th European University Handball Championships in July - this is the highest European level in university sports.

The Cranfield women's team won the 2011 British University Handball Championships in February, beating Loughborough University in the final. The Cranfield team was then nominated by British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS) to represent Great Britain at the European University Handball Championships.

The team will travel to Rijeka in Croatia for the finals from 17th-25th July, where they will be competing against University Champions of European countries.

All the players on the Cranfield team are postgraduate students who have been studying for a Masters degree at Cranfield University since October 2010. Sabrina Feraga, a student on the manufacturing postgraduate programme at the University, and one of the founding team members said, “We are over the moon to be representing Great Britain and Cranfield at the European Championships. It’s going to be a tough challenge but one that we are really looking forward to, and hopefully we can bring the cup back to Great Britain”.
