Cranfield University Student Finalist in Formula 1 competitionRalph Koyess, is a finalist in a competition furn by the Altran Engineering Academy with the prize a six-month internship with Renault F1. Koyess is a student on Cranfield University's prestigious MSc in Motorsport Engineering and Management, and is the only UK finalist in this international competition.
To reach the final, entrants were asked to present a 500-word entry describing a potential technological innovaion in an area of Formula One development. On reaching the final entrant then presented their ideas to the a panel of Formula One experts including Robin Tuluie, Head of research and development with Renault F1 team. Koyess presented work on transforming turbo engines which he had previously developed for his MSc thesis. Since the final Koyess has now been offered a job with the Renault F1 team.
“Getting into F1 has been a dream since I was very young. Now, with the AEA and Cranfield, I have the opportunity to enter this industry” said Koyess. Studying for an MSc in Motorsport Engineering and Management gives postgraduate engineering students unique opportunities to work and collaborate with leading motorsport companies and prepares students for careers in the motorsport industry.
