Cranfield University Boost for Water ScienceResearch and study in water purification and related sciences at Cranfield University will benefit from a £300,000 endowment from the Lorch Foundation. The Centre for Water Science at the university was founded by Dr Walter and Dr Diana Lorch who then founded the Lorch Foundation.
At the announcement of the endowment during an exhibition of Master's thesis projects from the University environmenta students, the University's Vice chancellor praised the donation and thanked the Foundation. “This considerable donation comes at an important time for Cranfield, on the 40th anniversary year of the University’s Royal charter. We are extremely grateful for the continued support the Lorch Foundation has offered Cranfield over its long association with the University. This funding will support the development of our people, both staff and students. It will also help in furthering the work of Cranfield’s student charity SAFAD and in establishing an annual Lorch lecture" said Professor Sir John O'Reilly.
The endowment has also allowed for an annual Lorch Scholarship to fund course fees and held living costs for a student on the University Water and Wastewater Engineering MSc. Cranfield University is a world leading reseach centre on water and sanitation, water policy and governance, water and wastewater technology and risk management for the water industry.
