City University London launches new masters in transport challengesCity University London is offering a new Masters in Transport Strategy and Systems from September 2011. This new postgraduate programme has been created in consultation with senior representatives from business, transport and government bodies. The MSc in Transport Strategy and Systems will address future transport challenges like smart technologies, sustainability and integrated infrastructure. Jeremy Blake, Manager, UK and Ireland, at global consultants, GHD, says, "We want people who can fully realise their potential and we regularly find that even excellent candidates are missing a good understanding of the connections between technology and commerce. A course like City's, focussed on closing this gap, helps by removing barriers to progression and adding value to our business." This new postgraduate programme has been designed with two key groups in mind: transport professionals wishing to broaden their strategic insight, and professionals such as lawyers, systems architects or asset managers wanting to specialise in transport. Professor Dinos Arcoumanis, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and International) and Course Co-director says, "Transportation is high on the global agenda. In every conversation we have with peers from world cities, we hear more about the great social and economic potential of improved transport - provided it can be transformed sustainably. The need for more integrated thought by those who guide future transport decisions has led us to create this truly interdisciplinary Masters programme." Professor Manolis Gavaises, Course Co-director says, "Transport strategy is a key to unlock one of the great challenges for coming decades. Better transport systems and services can support greater development, mobility and freedom but at the same time they must also radically change their profile and cut back their impact on the planet's energy and other resources." A part-time scholarship covering all fees is also being offered. Click here to find out more about the course, the scholarship and how to apply. Looking for funding for postgraduate studies in 2011?
