Anglia Ruskin's seminars challenge business leaders

The series of Turning Point seminars at Anglia Ruskin University give businesses the academic and practical perspective, and February's one on responsible leadership for the workplace of tomorrow will challenge business managers, directors and owners to consider their leadership style to position their business in the recovery from the recession.

The monthly Turning Point seminars, developed by Anglia Ruskin University's Survive & Thrive programme to help business owners in the East of England, have had such a positive response that organisers are working to extend the series to September 2010.

The Responsible Leadership seminar on Wednesday 24 February 2010, at Cambridge campus, will look at how recessions teach us caution but how easily caution is forgotten when the good times roll. What lessons can be learnt from the businesses that supplied Enron, Woolworths or relied on Buncefield? And what we can learn from business people who do get it right. The seminar will also consider key areas such as money, governance, operations and how developing a positive reputation can help to manage and mitigate business risk, and open doors to greater collaboration. The specialist speakers are Dr Jonathan Smith, Chartered FCIPD, Senior Lecturer at the Ashcroft International Business School and John Dix, Managing Partner at Hewitsons LLP.

The seminars are held once a month at Coslett Building Lecture Theatre, Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge Campus from 16.30 to 19.30.
