Established in 1872, Aberystwyth University is a traditional, research-led institution with the benefits of all the modern facilities expected of a higher education institution in the 21st century, including information services that are among the best in the UK. Students can also enjoy access to the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth – one of the five great copyright libraries in the UK.
The University has 18 departments offering excellent academic research and teaching standards, including our newest department, Psychology. Students are offered a safe and friendly place to study in what is considered to be one of the safest areas in the UK.
The University is committed to development and has recently invested a massive £23.5m into world-class biosciences within the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences, an institution devoted to tackling the major environmental issues of this century.
The 'green' theme is present throughout the University, with many schemes underway to help the environment. For example, our on-campus restaurants source 90% of their food from local suppliers in a bid to reduce our carbon footprint.
