A new giant of business educationThis month, the University of Reading announced it had agreed to a potential merger with the Henley Management College. If this goes ahead, a new world-class business school will be born – the Henley Business School at the University of Reading. The two partners complement each other: Henley is a leading international provider of executive education and MBA programmes, while Reading is a world leader in international business research with centres of excellence in business education for the financial and real estate markets. The merger will create a new strong, broad-based business school with international standing that will benefit from a cross-fertilisation of ideas and resources. It was will also have a state-of-the art new home that is due to open in 2009. Professor Gordon Marshall, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, was delighted, saying: ‘This represents a wonderful opportunity to establish a new business school to prepare future managers and business leaders for the challenges of the 21st century, with enviable core strengths but with the potential for innovative offerings to students, academics and corporate clients alike. The University of Reading is an ambitious institution and this will be a transforming step in further developing our reputation for outstanding teaching, research and enterprise.’ Find out more about this exciting new development and what else is on offer at the Business School on the University of Reading Business School’s website. |
